[S]ome marxists are prepared to admit that some Christians have, personally, become Marxists precisely on the account of their Christian beliefs — not that is, in spite of them, but because of them. Thus, for example Camilo Torres, Paulo Freire, the Slant Catholics in the 1960s in England and many others. There is a minority of Christians who have come to believe that fidelity to their Christian beliefs entails and not merely permits that they accept a revolutionary socialist stance. And some of these people make very good Marxists indeed.
